Stephen John  Knoop
Stephen John Knoop, 76, of West Suffield formerly of Kensington, and Evansville, IN beloved husband of the late Linda Jane (Lomax) Knoop, passed away on Saturday October 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 12, 1941, son of the late Norman and Helen Marie (Hartig) Knoop. Stephen attended Indiana University and was a fraternal member of Kappa Delta Rho. He graduated from University of Evansville class of 1964 and received B. S. Degree with a major in Biology.

From 1964-1967 he was a Systems Analyst for the Department of Defense in Indianapolis, IN. before joining Mead Johnson Laboratories in 1967 as a systems programmer and became manager, marketing information systems in 1972. Stephen retired after 35 years with Bristol-Myers-Squibb Global Biopharmaceuticals as Director of Research and Development for World Wide Clinical Operations of Clinical Trials.

He was a skilled and avid Angler participating in many fishing tournaments, and was a member of the Connecticut Valley Bass Masters Club for over 25 years. Stephen enjoyed several card leagues, trips to Mohegan Sun, and many table games including Cribbage and Mexican Train Dominos played with family. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time relaxing on the lake with his loyal companion Tessa, and grand-dog Mr. Tucker. He was a master of the grill, smoking favorite cuts of meat to serve at bbq’s. He was a kind and intelligent man who will be dearly missed by all who spent time with him.

Stephen is survived by a son John Knoop and his wife Jennifer Lyn (Jenny-Effer) of West Suffield; a daughter Stephanie Lynn Possum and her husband David of Vernon; two grandchildren Brandon and Natalie; a sister Susan O’Keefe and her husband Michael of Ballwin, MO; cousin Delores Ogle and her husband Glen, cousin Bob and his wife Katie Wolf, and cousin Mike and his wife Susan Wolf and their daughter Sarah and her son Samuel all of Evansville, IN; a sister-in-law Janet Davies and her husband Hadyn of Evansville, IN; and nephews Michael O’Keefe and his wife Jen, and Bradley Mayhew. He also leaves a lifelong friend Ron Ruminer. Stephen was predeceased by a nephew Bryan Mayhew.

Funeral Services in Connecticut will be on Tuesday, October 24, at 7:00 PM at The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 PM prior to the funeral service.

Funeral Services and Burial in his hometown of Evansville, IN; will take place on Saturday, October 28, at 11:00AM at Heritage Chapel in Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Dr., Evansville, IN 47720.
