Obituary for Patricia Marjorie Amenta (Bendel)

Patricia M. (Bendel) Amenta, 63, of West Suffield, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 7, 2019. Born in Hartford on June 16, 1955, daughter of the late Adolf ‘Benny’ and Marjorie (Milo) Bendel, and graduated from Windsor Locks High School class of 1973, living in Southwick before moving to West Suffield to raise her family over 40 years ago.

Patricia was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, and was the West Suffield Postmaster for 20 years. Early on, Patty worked as a caregiver at Kimberly Hall Nursing Home, and as a Hand Model. She took great pride in the community and her work. She was strong in her religion and faith and loved gardening, crafting, jewelry, creating care packages for the service members overseas, the sunshine and the beach at her family camp in Heath, MA; all animals, including her own doggies; but above all she loved time spent with her family and beloved grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by two sons and their wives, Sonny Joseph and Patricia L. Amenta of Suffield, Benny Patrick and Jennifer M. Amenta of West Suffield; brother Richard and his wife Desiree Bendel; two sisters Linda Garvey and her husband Michael, and Sandy Bendel. Five grandchildren, Autumn, Angel, Aurora, Xavier, Lucia and a great-grandson, Giovanni. Patty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years Santo ‘Sonny’ Thirteen Amenta, and brother Gregory Bendel.

The calling hours will be Thursday, June 13 at the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road from 4:00-6:30pm with a memorial service at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amenta Family, c/o 369 Griffin Road, West Suffield, CT 06093 to help with funeral expenses.
