John Anthony Phillips Jr., 88, of West Suffield, beloved husband of the late Barbara (Johnson) Phillips, passed away on June 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, son of the late John and Lila (Clark) Phillips, and lived in West Suffield most of his life.

John attended Morse School of Business and was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was a long time communicant of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Suffield, CT. He retired from Hamilton Standard after 34 years as a Value Analyst. John was a survivor of the 1944 Hartford Circus Fire. John thoroughly enjoyed auto racing, farming and his vegetable garden. His greatest joy was his family and most of all his loving grandchildren.

John is survived by his three children, a son John Anthony Phillips III and his wife Lisa-Marie of West Suffield, a daughter Susan P. Beger and her husband William ‘Bill’ of South Windsor, and son Robert Clark Phillips of West Simsbury; five grandchildren, Chelsea Norrie and her husband Doug, Justin Phillips and his wife Kirstie, Peter Phillips, London Beger and Ryan Beger; and two dear sisters Ruth Brown and Vyrline Owen both of Granby; and several nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to Kathy Ostrowski for all her care and support.

The Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 28 at 10:00 AM at The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock with military honors. Friends may call at the Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 27 from 5:00-7:00PM and Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:00AM prior to the funeral service.
