Obituary for Henry F. Putala

Henry F.  Putala
Henry Putala, 91, of Suffield, died on February 2, 2017. Born in Southington, CT on February 21, 1925, son of the late John and Caroline (Piekos) Putala. He was predeceased by four sisters and seven brothers; his first wife Mary (Chapor) Putala, daughter Carol Pericozzi; and his second wife Jean (Krupa) Furman Putala.

He was a communicant of Saint Joseph’s Church. Henry was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in World War II in the European Theater and was a Tank Driver in The Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6281 Suffield; WNP Kilcoyne Council Enfield; American Legion Post 36 Windsor Locks.

He is survived by a son Henry Putala Jr. and his wife Laura of Florida; a daughter Sheila Litke and her husband David of Warren, CT; three grandchildren, Alicia, John, and Justin; one great grandchild, Haley. Step-daughters Jan Lemire and her husband Michael of Suffield; Marcia Furman, Cynthia Furman, Andrea Kanfer, and Patricia Pooler, and step-grandchildren and their families and many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, February 8, from 9:00-10:30AM at the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, South Main Street, Suffield; burial will follow with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield.
