Obituary for Stasia Anne Zalewski (Phillips)

Stasia Anne (Phillips) Zalewski, 94, of Suffield, wife of the late Edward Zalewski, passed away on March 5, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Suffield on October 15, 1924, daughter of the late Henry A. and Gladys (Falkowski) Phillips, she lived in Suffield all her life.

Stasia and her husband proudly ran the Zalewski Farm, now preserved farm land, raising tobacco and corn through the decades. She was also employed outside of the home at M. Swift & Sons Gold Leafing Factory, in Hartford. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Church, and enjoyed Polish music and dancing.

Stasia is survived by a sister, Agnes Wosko; sister-in-law, Norma Phillips; cousin, Frances Papauga; many nieces and nephews; devoted family members Susan Bergeron, Annie & Neil Hornish, and Becky Trowbridge; and her faithful Kitty, a rescued cat with whom she had an instant bond eight years ago. Many thanks for the compassionate care provided by Regina, Slawa, and Athena Hospice’s Marcy, Siggy, Nicole, and Rev. Adams.
Stasia was predeceased by her husband Edward Zalewski, Sr.; son Edward Zalewski, Jr.; and five siblings: Stanley Phillips, Sr., Rose Modzelesky, John Phillips, Michael Phillips, and Helen Woishnis.

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 8, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church, Suffield. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield.
